Bloodwork Services for Pets

We use state-of-the-art IDEXX lab equipment to process bloodwork in-house.

Routine bloodwork is an important assessment of your pet's internal health. Each organ and system corresponds to a specific measure evaluated through bloodwork. One of the benefits of our in-house lab equipment is that the same team that treats your pet is also responsible for analyzing test results. This keeps your pet's circle of care under the same roof.

How quickly is my dog or cat's bloodwork analyzed?

We perform most of our diagnostic services at our clinic using the lab equipment from IDEXX Laboratories. Our equipment allows our veterinarians to get blood results on the same day to help your cat or dog get diagnosed faster. The quicker we can identify potential issues means we can create effective treatment plans that support your cat or dog's unique needs. Our technicians draw blood samples to check:

  • Kidney, liver, and pancreatic function
  • Performance of white and red blood cells
  • Thyroid functioning
  • Run urine tests
  • Detect feline leukemia/FIV in cats

Why do you run tests before my dog or cat's surgery?

We conduct routine pre-anesthetic blood testing on any pet receiving an anesthetic/ about to undergo surgery. Pre-anesthetic blood testing is crucial, even for young cats and dogs, to get a complete picture of their health before administering anesthesia. It also helps our veterinarians choose an anesthetic regime that suits your cat or dog's needs. For example, if your pet has poor liver function before a procedure, we'll delay the surgery rather than risk their health, which could have detrimental outcomes. We run tests on the morning of the surgery and can get results within an hour. If you have questions about your pet's upcoming bloodwork, contact us at 709-256-3891.
